Squire Patton Boggs served as lead development counsel on the Los Ramones Pipeline Project, which was named “Project Finance Deal of the Year,” by Latin Lawyer at its 2014 Charity Awards dinner on March 19 at the Hotel Unique in São Paulo, Brazil.
Squire Patton Boggs represented long-standing client Pemex, the Mexican state-owned petroleum company, on all four portions of the Los Ramones natural gas pipeline project. The combined phases of the overall project will extend approximately 1,000 kilometers from Southern Texas to Central Mexico, and is expected to require a total combined investment of over US$3 billion.
The Project was also recently named “Latin American Oil & Gas Midstream Deal of the Year” at the IJGlobal 2014 Americas Awards, and “Americas Oil & Gas Deal of the Year” by Project Finance International.
The Squire Patton Boggs team was led by Washington DC partners Alvaro Mestre and Paul O’Hop, with support from Kevin Levey, Jim Morgan, and Purvin Patel, as well as from Loana Martin who provided invaluable in-country support throughout the project. Squire Patton Boggs has continually represented PEMEX and several of its subsidiaries in their project development activities in Mexico since the mid-1990s.
