Jimmy Hafner advises public companies and privately held businesses on a variety of corporate and transactional matters, including mergers, asset and stock acquisitions, sales and joint ventures, securities, commercial contracts and general corporate governance issues. Having represented companies across the manufacturing, infrastructure, renewable energy, technology, e-commerce, financial services and insurance spaces, Jimmy brings a broad range of experience and keeps his clients’ business interests at the center of his work.

For the past three years consecutively, Jimmy has been named among the Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch in America for his work in corporate law, healthcare law and insurance law, as well as mergers and acquisitions law. He is recognized as a Rising Star in Ohio Super Lawyers, naming him as one of the top 2.5% of Ohio attorneys aged 40 or under or in practice for 10 years or fewer. He also serves on the Columbus office Hiring Committee.

Jimmy serves as an adjunct professor at The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law, where he teaches a transactional law course.

  • Represented clients involved in cross-border joint venture disputes on negotiated buyouts, takeover options and other strategic considerations.
  • Represented a leader in electric vehicle charging stations in a wide range of commercial agreements for both purchase and sale transactions, including for federal and state government programs.
  • Represented manufacturing, infrastructure, technology and online commerce companies by drafting and negotiating a range of commercial agreements.
  • Represented several NYSE-listed manufacturing companies in general corporate, commercial and securities regulation matters.
  • Represented a large US energy company in its Chapter 11 case in which substantially all assets were sold in more than 15 section 363 sales.
  • Represented a US coal company in its Chapter 11 case in the Western District of Kentucky, in which it pursued a section 363 sale of its mining assets.
  • Represented a large alternative investment manager in connection with the purchase of an insurance company.
  • Represented foreign conglomerates in connection with the potential purchase of insurance companies and related investments.
