Ian Yeo is a partner in the Financial Services Practice, based in the London office. He has more than 25 years’ experience as a general banking lawyer. His practice is wide ranging, including syndicated lending, real estate finance, emerging markets finance, acquisition finance and restructuring. A significant part of his work is international in nature, often involving structuring complex financing transactions in challenging jurisdictions.

As well as working in London, Ian has practised law in Frankfurt, Singapore and Moscow.

Ian has been recognised in both Chambers and The Legal 500 as a banking and finance expert, particularly in relation to emerging markets finance and acquisition finance. In Chambers 2018, Ian was listed as a leading individual for Banking and Finance: Lenders and praised for being technically “very good”. In The Legal 500 2018, Ian was ranked as a tier 1 leading individual for Emerging Markets Finance and was described as a “sharpshooter and quick thinker”.

  • Acting for a multilateral bank on a secured oil and gas financing in Nigeria.
  • Acting for a supplier of meat processing systems on its leveraged financing with a syndicate of banks financing its acquisition of a company in the Netherlands.
  • Acting for a direct lender on secured facilities supporting the acquisition by a private equity fund of a division of a global information service company.
  • Acting for a lender on the restructuring of various debt guaranteed by an African republic.
  • Acting for a lender on a facility to a Cypriot SPV, secured over shares in an AIM-listed company, shares in certain Cypriot companies, a personal guarantee from the main sponsor and shares in a company owning real estate.
  • Acting for a syndicate of banks on facilities in US dollars and Saudi riyals provided to a Saudi Arabian company with security over various significant minority shareholdings.
  • Acting for an investment bank on its co-investment with two significant JV partners in a Ukrainian real estate investment company.
  • Acting for a private equity fund on an acquisition financing of an engineering company in the UK.
