Tina Wong is an associate who focuses her practice on litigation disputes related to dry shipping, wet shipping and trade.

Tina advises shipping and trade clients on a broad range of dispute resolution matters, and on all forms of shipping contracts and related documents, including various saleforms for ship sale and purchases, charterparties, bills of lading and letters of credit. She also has experience in handling cross-border commercial disputes involving shareholders, directors, insolvency and company liquidation matters.

On the non-contentious side, she has experience in advising on sale and purchase of ships, asset finance and loan transactions.

  • Acted for a global commodity trading house in a London arbitration against three affiliated Taiwanese entities in relation to breach of a long-term sale contract for aluminium, and in a related London High Court action against a Taiwanese warehouse in relation to breach of warehousing and logistics agreement.
  • Acted for a Japanese ship finance business in five ad hoc arbitrations under LMAA Terms against an Indonesian listed oil and gas tanker company, in relation to termination of bareboat charters and claims under guarantees.
  • Acted for shipowners in a London arbitration under LMAA Terms against charterers in relation to an unsafe port claim.
  • Acted for a Chinese state-owned oil and gas enterprise in a SIAC arbitration against a multinational commodity trading company based in Switzerland, in relation to a sale agency arrangement and various crude oil sales contracts.
  • Acted for a world-leading global container transportation and shipping company in an arbitration against a Chinese liner shipping service provider in relation to cargo claims pursuant to a slot exchange agreement.
  • Acted for a Filipino healthcare product distributor against its freight forwarding and logistics company in relation to breach of a shipping contract regarding cargo damage.
  • Acted for a Singapore incorporated energy and oil trading business in recovering debts due from a Hong Kong subsidiary of a Chinese oil and gas conglomerate (in liquidation), under various sale contracts, and answering queries from liquidators in relation to potential debt of up to US$38 million.
  • Acted for a Chinese e-commence platform in a HKIAC arbitration under UNCITRAL rules to defend fraud, misrepresentation and breach of share subscription agreement claims of value up to US$12.5 million, brought by an American top tier capital venture company.
  • Acted for a Hong Kong listed company and its subsidiary in resisting the winding-up petitions presented by a British multinational bank in Bermuda and Hong Kong, and advised on application for appointment of soft-touch provisional liquidators in Bermuda and its cross-border debt restructuring.
  • Acted for joint and several receivers appointed by a Taiwanese bank in a sale and purchase of a property of value up to HK$34 million and related disputes with the debtor.
