Lauras’ expertise in dry shipping includes bills of lading, charterparties and contracts of affreightment. His experience of wet shipping matters encompasses collisions, allisions, fires and groundings.
Lauras also provides comprehensive support to clients in navigating the complexities of trade and commodities disputes, such as those arising from the sale of coal and metals.
In addition to shipping and trade disputes, Lauras has a wealth of experience of international commercial disputes generally.
- Acting for owners and their insurers in relation to several major cargo fires involving chemical cargoes.
- Acting in several substantial unsafe port claims, arising from incidents (groundings, collisions and allisions) in a range of locations, including Brazil, Panama and the Mississippi River.
- Acting for owners and charterers in multiple underperformance and overconsumption claims.
- Acting for owners and charterers in multiple substantial claims arising from negligent loading and stowage.
- Acting for a major commodities trader in a SIAC arbitration arising out of a breach of a contract for sale of coal.
