Patrick Madrid is part of our firm’s International Trade & Foreign Investment Practice Group, where he assists clients with the laws, regulations, policies and practices for trade and national security matters pertaining to export controls, sanctions, trade remedy, government contracts and foreign direct investment.

Patrick earned his J.D. with a concentration in national security law and policy from the Antonin Scalia Law School at George Mason University, where he was a member of the George Mason Law Review. During law school, Patrick worked as an export licensing officer and foreign policy analyst with the US Department of Commerce’s Bureau of Industry and Security, where he focused on issues relating to the Entity List and export controls of sanctioned and embargoed nations under the Export Administration Regulations.

Patrick began his professional career as a senior consultant for a global consulting firm providing supply chain solutions for the federal government. He supported contracts at the US Department of Agriculture and Department of Defense, where he provided on-site expertise in government acquisition systems and enterprise solutions.

From 2010 to 2023, Patrick served in the US Marine Corps as a naval flight officer and mission commander in the EA-6B Prowler jet aircraft. During his military service, Patrick deployed twice in support of US Central Command and once to US Indo-Pacific Command, and gained valuable experience as the squadron legal officer and aviation maintenance quality assurance officer.
