Salman Kotwal is a corporate associate in our Dubai office and has also worked for us in the UK. Prior to joining the firm, Salman was a corporate/commercial legal counsel who trained and qualified in-house with a UK-headquartered global petrol forecourt operator. While predominantly supporting our Corporate Practice in the Middle East and advising our UAE and KSA clients, Salman also acts on matters for our UK offices and clients.

Salman’s practice covers all aspects of corporate work across a range of sectors, including domestic, international and cross-border mergers and acquisitions, and private equity investments, as well as corporate reorganisations and general corporate advice.

  • Actively advising several government clients on corporate and project matters.
  • Acting for Taaleem (one of the largest K-12 premium education providers in the UAE) on the acquisition of Lycée Libanais Francophone Privé Meydan School in Dubai.
  • Acting for e& (a UAE telecommunications company) on its further investment into StarzPlay (a video streaming service provider).
  • Acting for the individual shareholders of Derby Group, a diversified UAE-based business group, on its majority sale to a subsidiary of Abu Dhabi-based International Holding Company (IHC).
  • Acting for Ajlan & Bros, a KSA investment conglomerate, on its acquisition of shares in a UAE-based facilities management services provider.
  • Acting for an individual seller to a Ras Al Khaimah based manufacturer of specialist vehicles.
  • Acting for XLN, a UK-based telecoms provider, on its sale to DaisyTelecoms.
  • Acting for PE investor, Chiltern Capital, in its investment into Empteezy (a provider of environmental and safety solutions and services).
  • Acting for JT IOT (a Jersey-company) in its acquisition of Top Connect (an Estonia-based roaming and IoT connectivity roaming services provider).
  • Acting for Aptus Clinical, a clinical contract research organisation, in its sale to Catalyst Clinical Research.
  • Acting for EG Group (a UK-headquartered global petrol forecourt operator) on multiple portfolio acquisitions across the group (including in the UK, Europe, US and Australia) involving petrol filling stations and food-to-go concessions.*
  • Advising EG Group on the acquisition Cooplands, a large UK-based bakery chain.*
  • Acting for EG Group on the acquisition of fast-food restaurant chain, LEON, in the UK.*
  • Advising EG Group on the acquisition of one of the largest KFC franchisee portfolios in the UK and Ireland (146 locations) from The Herbert Group.*
  • Advising EG Group on the disposal of its Netherlands-headquartered fuel card business to US-based financial technology services provider, Wex Inc.*
  • Advising EG Group on the franchise and development agreement with a US-owned global bakery chain, Cinnabon.*
  • Conducting antitrust analyses for various potential acquisitions by EG Group in the UK and in Europe.*
