Petr Kolář focuses his practice on commercial diplomacy and global government relations. Petr provides clients with analytic and diplomatic expertise, representing them before the legislative and executive branches of government.
Petr assists clients with the development of strategy, tactics and tools with respect to foreign market business activities, including transactional negotiations and dispute resolution, advice on foreign relations, and optimizing foreign trade and investments.
Prior to joining the firm, Petr held a number of leading positions in the Czech Foreign Service, including Head of Department, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs for bilateral relations, advisor to President Václav Havel for European integration and the Balkans, and Ambassador to Sweden (1996-1998), Ireland (1999-2003), the US (2005-2010) and the Russian Federation (2010-2012). In 2013 he served as Director of Foreign Affairs for the PPF Group, where he primarily focused on Asia. Petr Kolář has been engaged as a pro bono external adviser for foreign policy and international relations to the President of the Czech Republic (since March 2023) and to the Chairman of the Senate (since 2021).
