Marek Hrubeš focuses his practice on private equity (PE), venture capital (VC) and mergers and acquisitions (M&A). Marek has wide-ranging experience in handling complex cross-border and domestic transactions and negotiations. He has been appraised by clients for his aim to exceed expectations.

Marek's transactional portfolio covers legal advice to PE/VC funds, global corporations and wealthy individuals on investments, acquisitions and sales of companies of all sizes across a range of industries including technology, manufacturing, retail and real estate.

Marek has also advised clients on multiple corporate restructurings, including mergers and spin-offs, debt financing and on setting-up long-term shareholders' relationships in joint ventures and between investors and founders.

Marek has studied and worked in Taiwan and mainland China, where he learnt Mandarin and passed the HSK 5 Chinese Proficiency Test.

  • Advising one of the largest Czech VC funds on its Series A+ and Series B investments into a UK provider of comprehensive boiler, heating and home cover plans.
  • Advising a Czech VC fund on its post-Series B convertible loan financing of a UK home energy services startup.
  • Advising a Taiwanese VC fund on Series B investment into a global transportation network company providing technology-based, private door-to-door rides.
  • Advising a Taiwanese VC fund on Series A investment into a Czech-based developer and producer of virtual and mixed reality headsets and training systems for professional and military pilots, and the related clearance under Czech FDI screening laws.
  • Advising a Czech VC firm focusing on investments in early-stage B2B software scale-ups on the limited partnership agreement relating to establishing a new fund.
  • Advising a Czech impact fund on its complex legal transformation, including change of a legal form of the impact fund from an endowment fund to a limited liability company, and its registration as an alternative investment fund with the Czech National Bank.

  • Advising the world’s leading provider of technology-enabled language, content management and IP services in connection with a cross-border merger involving Luxembourg and Czech corporations.
  • Advising a fund of qualified investors on €123.8 million acquisition of a shopping centre located in the Czech Republic.
