Matt Campbell is a senior associate in our Litigation Practice Group, based in Leeds.

Matt is experienced in litigating high-value and complex commercial disputes. He is instructed across a broad range of contractual and tortious matters, including breach of contract, warranty claims, shareholder disputes, professional negligence and economic torts.

Matt acts for public limited companies and limited companies across a range of business sectors, including the engineering and construction, sports, financial services, technology, retail and food sectors. He is often instructed in matters involving parties in various jurisdictions and/or which include jurisdictional issues. He works closely with our other offices in this regard.

Matt has been instructed in several arbitrations under the Groceries Supply Code of Practice.

  • Defending an IT services provider against a claim of circa £2 million in conspiracy, dishonest assistance, conversion, breach of fiduciary duty, breach of the equitable duty of confidence and breach of contract, including both the initial injunctive proceedings and the subsequent High Court litigation.
  • Defending a major retailer in specialist arbitration proceedings against a claim for circa £3 million, in which the claimant suppliers alleged wrongful delisting and several other GSCOP breaches.
  • Acting for a manufacturer of automated food processing machinery in respect of claims of approximately £500,000 arising out of its supply of an allegedly defective automated vegetable picking and sorting line.
  • Defending a major international manufacturer of specialist printing hardware against a claim for approximately £2.5 million in relation to supply of allegedly defective printing equipment.
  • Acting for the defendant and counterclaimant company in proceedings against its former director and current minority shareholder in claims in restitution and breach of fiduciary duty for circa £2 million.
