Antonio Bañón is a legal director in the Madrid office, leading the energy and regulatory areas.
He has advised both private companies and public sector entities on general matters regarding public law and environmental regulations, as well as regulatory aspects on specific sectors, such as energy, telecommunications and transport.
Antonio has garnered extensive experience advising on the regulatory aspects of numerous transactions involving companies from the energy sector, particularly in relation to renewables, including green hydrogen and biogas. He is a recognized specialist on the regulatory particularities of the energy sector, having provided legal advice to top-tier operators.
Furthermore, throughout his career, he has participated in various P3 projects and, in general, on consultations in relation to the regulatory framework of public procurement. He has extensive experience at both national and international level in a wide range of areas: advice on the configuration of the administrative procurement file, evaluation and configuration of the best contract structure, drafting of specifications, preparation of bids, etc.
He has advised clients on numerous sanctioning procedures before the Spanish energy authorities, as well as leading their representation in court.
Antonio is a professor of administrative law in the master’s degree in access to the legal profession at the Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia (Spain) and also in the master’s degree in high specialization in regulated sectors at the Escuela de Práctica Jurídica of the Universidad Complutense de Madrid (Spain).
He is also the author of numerous publications in the field of energy and P3 projects.
He has been recognized as Best Lawyer of the Year in Energy Law on the 2024 Forty under 40 awards of Iberian Lawyer.
