Abdulaziz Al-Alami is a corporate partner who represents national and foreign entities on mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, corporate restructuring, capital markets and corporate governance.

With a background in strategic planning for Saudi Aramco’s crude and product oil shipping unit where he started his career, Abdulaziz frequently advises on transactional and commercial matters for global and Saudi businesses and investors operating across a range of industries, including technology and data, defence and energy.

He is a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb) and has advised on a number of commercial arbitration proceedings and represented clients before general courts, commercial courts, the Committee for the Resolution of Securities Disputes, and the Committees for Banking and Financial Disputes and Violations in Saudi Arabia.

Most recently, Abdulaziz acted as general secretary of the board of directors of the Saudi Arabian Mining Company (Ma’aden).

Abdulaziz is qualified and admitted to the bar in the District of Columbia and New Jersey (US), and Saudi Arabia.

  • Advising Amazon on a broad range of commercial and regulatory matters.
  • Advising the MAZ Group on its joint venture with Swiss-based Rheinmetall Defence to create a manufacturing and development centre of air defence systems and technologies in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
  • Advising Jasara Program Management Company, a Saudi joint venture between the Saudi Public Investment Fund, Saudi Aramco and Jacobs Engineering, on its day-to-day general corporate counsel, regulatory, compliance and governance matters.
  • Advising Saudi Cloud Computing Company (Alibaba Cloud) on day-to-day corporate legal advice relating to transactional, governance and regulatory matters.
  • Advising International Maritime Industries Company, a Saudi joint venture between Saudi Aramco, Hyundai Heavy Industries, Bahri (formerly known as the National Shipping Company of Saudi Arabia) and Lamprell, on general corporate matters and projects relating to the maritime yard located in Ras Al-Khair within the King Salman International Complex for Maritime Industries and Services.
  • Advising Ahmad Hamad Al Gosaibi & Bros (AHAB) on its ongoing SAR35 billion-plus (US$9.3 billion) litigation and Saudi Arabia’s largest restructuring and settlement negotiations with creditors.
  • Acting for Sanabil Investments in a US$35 million Series C funding round in MoneyForAnyCar.com Ltd., a company offering used car valuation and sales services in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates through its local vehicle, SellAnyCar.com.
