Working Families, the UK’s national charity for working parents and carers, has announced that Squire Patton Boggs has been awarded a place on its prestigious and competitive list of the top family-friendly and flexible employers.
Employers were assessed using Working Families’ Benchmark and were scored on four key areas, including policy and its integration within organisational strategy and culture, to build a comprehensive picture of their flexible and family-friendly policies and practices that specifically support parents and carers.
Squire Patton Boggs has introduced a number of initiatives to support families and carers. These include the ‘My Family Hub,’ which offers a suite of guides and resources; a Carers Policy and Toolkit, providing employees with access to quick and short-term support; and a Carers Concierge Service. Through its ‘MyWellbeing’ programme, employees can access information and advice on a broad range of topics focused on career, health, family, finances and community. The firm’s global mentoring programme also incorporates wellbeing as a key subject where mentees can specifically request support from mentors.
Jonathan Jones, European managing partner, said: “As a firm, we have a long-standing commitment to creating a work environment where individuals feel supported to find balance in their personal and professional lives. For some, that’s being able to put family first in times of need. That’s why we’re proud to offer second-to-none family and carer plans, to enable those starting or growing their family, or those with short or long-term caring responsibilities, to manage what’s important.”
Jane van Zyl, CEO of Working Families, said: “It's inspiring to see our Benchmark employers leading the way in flexible, family-friendly workplaces. With 85% starting with job design for flexible roles and 96% having strategic plans for family-friendly support, they're making flexible work a reality. Nearly all provide line manager training and encourage managers to work flexibly, showing a strong commitment to inclusive work environments.”
