Squire Patton Boggs’ work in the energy sector in Spain garnered two awards at the Iberian Lawyer Energy Awards 2024 in Madrid on 27th June 2024.
The Energy Awards, presented at a gala ceremony held at the Espacio Larra, recognize the excellence among Spanish and Portuguese professionals active across the energy sector.
Squire Patton Boggs was recognized as ‘Law Firm of the Year Project Finance’. The firm was lauded for its involvement “in financing operations of multiple solar projects in Spain, playing a crucial role in securing projects and negotiating long-term power purchase agreements with major entities”. The firm’s lawyers, led by Financial Services partner Manuel Mingot, have “showcased the commitment to advancing renewable energy initiatives” in Spain.
In addition, Antonio Bañón received the award for ‘Lawyer of the Year Renewables’. Leading the Madrid energy and public law team, Antonio Bañón was singled out for building “a robust regulatory practice. He has attracted top-tier clients in the renewable energy sector and consolidated existing client relationships, significantly enhancing the quality of legal advice through comprehensive regulatory services.”
