Squire Patton Boggs partner Alexandra “Sandy” MacLennan has been honored by the Burton Awards and named a recipient of Law360’s “Distinguished Legal Writing Award,” which showcases the highest standard of excellence in legal writing.
The Burton Awards, a national 501(c)(3) non-profit program, which is run in association with the Library of Congress, presented by lead sponsor Law360, and co-sponsored by the American Bar Association, selected 20 of the finest law firm writers for the 2024 honor. Winners were chosen from nominations submitted by the nation’s top 1,000 largest law firms.
Sandy is being recognized for her co-authorship of the article, “Municipal Market Evolution Reflecting the Constitutional Underpinnings of the Law of Public Finance.” (Subscription required). The writing team was led by Ann Fillingham of Dykema and included Sandy, Joseph (Jodie) E. Smith of Maynard Nexsen, and the late Perry Israel.
Sandy focuses her practice on US public finance and has more than 35 years of experience as bond, disclosure and underwriters’ counsel in a variety of transactions, including, in particular, financings for traditional municipal projects, healthcare, higher education, utility systems, and airport projects. Sandy is the recipient of numerous awards and distinctions and has been recognized in Chambers USA for banking and finance since 2009.
