Squire Patton Boggs has advised digital services partner Hippo Digital on the acquisition of Leeds-based data consultancy The Data Shed.
The team advising Hippo Digital was led by Corporate partner Mae Salem, and included fellow partner Paul Mann and associates Emily Downie and Amelia Sharkey.
Founded in 2016, Hippo Digital is headquartered in Leeds, with offices in Manchester, London, Bristol, and Birmingham. The acquisition of The Data Shed takes the company’s headcount to nearly 400 people, with revenues in excess of £40 million. Its strategy is to scale its engineering and data practices to complement its industry-leading product and design credentials. This will enable it to continue to grow at pace in the NHS and central government, where it has a strong track record for delivering effective digital services, as well as expand further into the private sector, where it has had recent success. Hippo Digital plans to continue its double-digit growth trajectory and to grow the business to over 500 employees.
In April 2021, the Squire Patton Boggs team advised the shareholders and management team of Hippo Digital on an investment from private equity firm Growth Capital Partners.
Mae Salem said: “We’re pleased to have been able to support Hippo Digital on a further important transaction, with the addition of The Data Shed enabling the company to expand its services, develop new markets and help drive the next phase of its growth.”
