Squire Patton Boggs Recognized in The Legal 500 Asia Pacific 2023

In the newly released 2023 edition of The Legal 500 Asia Pacific, Squire Patton Boggs has been recommended in 19 practice areas. There were 47 lawyers achieving recognition for their expertise, two of whom were named in the elite Hall of Fame list, and a further five noted as Leading Individuals.

In the 2023 guide, Squire Patton Boggs has been ranked as a leading firm for Regional International Arbitration in Asia Pacific, with “an energy-focussed arbitration presence in Asia, focussed on its Singapore and Australian offices.”

In Australia, the team is recognized by Legal 500 as having “a strong reputation in both domestic and international arbitration”. In addition, the firm’s “rapidly growing national energy and natural resources team, [offers] a combination of corporate and project experience across the renewables, oil and gas, LNG, minerals, and power sectors”. In the sphere of IT and Telecoms the firm provides “an end-to-end service for technology projects, fielding a dedicated communications team which provides regulatory and competition advice for a host of entities operating within the sector.” Squire Patton Boggs is also marked as a Firm to Watch in Restructuring and Insolvency in Australia: “focused on company and director-side representation when it comes to corporate insolvencies, both domestic and international in nature.”

Squire Patton Boggs has “a well-developed labour and employment practice” in Singapore and is also recommended for the “sheer size (both in depth and breadth) of the disputes practice globally”, with its International Arbitration experience covering a range of key sectors, notably energy, shipping, commodities and infrastructure, with a particular track record in LNG and natural gas industry matters. Legal 500 also recommended the firm’s Commodities & Shipping Group with its “strong core of senior shipping specialists. The team covers wet and dry shipping, ship finance, offshore energy, and trade and commodities.”

In Tokyo, the Corporate & M&A and Dispute Resolution teams are recognized for their “excellent advice for not only legal issues but also business negotiations”, while the Banking & Finance team is “renowned for its strong asset finance practice”, particularly in terms of aircraft and vessels; Legal 500 noting it “correctly understands the client’s negotiation policy, from the preparation stage to the conclusion of the contract.”

In China, Squire Patton Boggs is a recommended foreign firm for its regulatory and compliance work.

In Hong Kong, Squire Patton Boggs is designated a “growing firm in the private client space, offering high-net-worth individuals and families expertise across the range of their private wealth needs; with specialist knowledge in regard to US tax issues and advising family offices.”
