Global law firm Squire Patton Boggs will open an office in Dublin, Ireland – its 15th location in Europe – complementing the firm’s international platform of over 40 offices worldwide.
Partner Dennis Agnew, who leads the Transactions Team for Ireland at Pinsent Masons and was a founding partner of its Dublin office, will join Squire Patton Boggs to launch the new office, which is expected to open on May 1, 2023.
“Launching in Ireland, one of the world’s fastest growing economies, is another important milestone in our global expansion and reaffirms our commitment to providing clients with premium counsel wherever they do business,” said Squire Patton Boggs Chair and Global CEO Mark Ruehlmann.
Steve Mahon, Global Managing Partner – Clients and Strategy commented, “In a post-Brexit world, Ireland continues to emerge as an important center for business activity spanning several key areas of our global practice, including private equity, tech and life sciences. Our Dublin office will open up new opportunities for our firm and benefit clients who are already doing business and planning investments in Ireland.”
“The growth we have experienced across our pan-European funds and corporate practices, coupled with the inbound investment opportunities from our extensive US practice make this a logical step for us,” said Private Equity Practice head Paul Mann. “Dennis is a seasoned practitioner with a strong track-record advising domestic and international companies on a diverse range of cross border matters. We are delighted that he is joining us as an integrated member of our global team and anticipate further additions in the near future.”
Mr. Agnew will serve as Managing Partner of the Dublin office and lead the firm’s efforts to recruit additional talent. He advises international and Irish companies on cross-border mergers and acquisitions across a variety of sectors.
“Dennis’ extensive network of contacts and established track record of successfully launching greenfield offices make him an excellent choice to lead this important expansion effort for our firm,” said EMEA Managing Partner Jonathan Jones. “We are committed to building a differentiated offering for Irish clients and international businesses with investments in the country.”
Commenting on his move to the firm Mr. Agnew said, “Squire’s extensive international practice, particularly across the US, and tight knit culture present a great opportunity to add a fully integrated, cross jurisdictional Irish practice into a global firm. I’m excited to join the firm and work with my new colleagues.”
