Global law firm Squire Patton Boggs has secured a team of employment lawyers, headed by Nicola Martin. Based in Sydney, the team has a strong reputation for its ability to deliver strategic and responsive advice across a broad range of employment and labour issues.
Formerly with McCabe Curwood and Norton Rose Fulbright, Nicola began her career in the UK. She has a particular focus on discrimination, bullying and harassment issues, as well as designing and implementing HR and IR strategies and supporting management and boards. Joining Nicola are Erin Kidd (director) and Elisa Blakers (associate).
Caroline Noblet, Global Co-Chair for Labour & Employment, said: “Nicola’s passion for delivering effective solutions to clients is matched by her technical abilities and both make her a good fit for our integrated global employment practice.”
Squire Patton Boggs’ extensive global platform and ability to service multinational clients across multiple markets was a pull-factor for Nicola, who commented: “I am excited to be joining a collaborative and agile firm. Last year was exceptional for employers across the globe and 2021 is shaping up to offer its own challenges. We are very much looking forward to supporting Squire Patton Boggs’ clients through these challenging times and beyond with on-the-pulse support.”
In the past 20 months, the firm has added 11 new partners to the Australian roster. This growth reflects expansion efforts taking place elsewhere around the firm, including hires into the firm’s London, Brussels, Paris, Frankfurt, Singapore, Milan, New York, Riyadh and Dubai offices.
Campbell Davidson, Australian managing partner, said: “We are very pleased to have Nicola and her team join us at a time when employment-related issues are front and centre for most businesses and organisations. Nicola’s expertise will be highly valued by our clients based in Australia and around the world.”
