The disturbing events surrounding the certification of our Presidential election reached a crescendo last week with the completely unacceptable assault on our nation’s Capitol by forces that were clearly lawless and in total defiance of one of our country’s most cherished values – the peaceful transition of power from one administration to another. Constitutionally guaranteed political protest, regardless of one’s politics is one thing, but the brazen and violent storming of the Capitol was both lawless and deeply damaging to the fabric that binds us as a nation. We reject it completely and call upon the mechanisms of our justice system to take appropriate action in response towards all who engaged in this blatant lawlessness.
Squire Patton Boggs categorically rejects all attempts to undermine our system of government, the orderly transition of power and the disregard of our long-standing democratic norms. We have suspended all PAC contributions pending a review of our practices and criteria to properly take into account the evolving exigencies of today’s political realities. We took this important step in keeping with our values both as an institution and as Americans.
