Squire Patton Boggs continues the global expansion of its International Disputes Resolution (IDR) Practice with the addition of Michelle Glassman Bock, who joins the firm as a partner from Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr LLP. Splitting her time between the firm’s Brussels and Washington DC offices, Ms. Bock is the latest addition to the firm’s IDR practice, which has recently hired team members in New York, London, Singapore, Dubai, and Milan and consists of more than 140 practitioners across 20 countries.

“Michelle is a star in international arbitration with a proven track record of successfully representing clients in many of the world’s largest disputes,” said Stephen Anway, global co-leader of the International Dispute Resolution Practice. “She brings broad expertise handling complex international arbitration matters and has particular skills in natural gas price review arbitrations, which is a marquee element of our practice. Michelle a perfect fit for our team, and we are delighted she has decided to join our firm.”

Ms. Bock has experience with arbitration proceedings conducted under the auspices of various of the leading international arbitral institutions as well as with ad hoc proceedings, including more than a dozen gas price review arbitrations and related proceedings. She also has acted as counsel in other international arbitrations involving energy, telecoms, automotive, engineering, technological manufacturing and distribution, international joint ventures, M&A, and shareholder disputes.

Ms. Bock teaches an LLM course in international arbitration at the Université Libre de Bruxelles, and has lectured on the same at the Austrian Arbitration Academy, the Julius-Maximilians-Universität Würzburg, the Cologne Arbitration Academy, and Duke University School of Law. She has been named a “Future Leader” by Who’s Who Legal for Arbitration and is a member of the Swiss Arbitration Association (ASA), the German Arbitration Institute (DIS), the Belgian Arbitration Association (CEPANI), and ArbitralWomen.

Co-chair George von Mehren, who founded the practice nearly 20 years ago, added, “Our IDR Practice has flourished due in no small part to a concerted team effort from a talented group of professionals who have made delivering successful outcomes for clients their central focus. Adding someone of Michelle’s calibre will assure that we continue that tradition, and we are excited to have her join the team.”

Commenting on her move to the firm, Ms. Bock said, “I am thrilled to be joining such a dynamic and talented team with a truly international reach and clear commitment to excellence.”

The expansion follows the recent additions of new IDR partners Ali Gursel, John Branson, and Zeynep Gunday in New York, Peter Stewart in London, Ravinder Bhullar and senior associate Alex Freeman in Dubai, Galileo Pozzoli in Milan, and partners Barry Stimpson and Cameron Ford and associate Christopher Bloch in Singapore.
