Leading Florida legal publication Daily Business Review (DBR) has named Squire Patton Boggs Miami partner Jonathan Weiss among the recipients of its 2020 On the Rise award.
An accomplished litigator and trial lawyer, Mr. Weiss specializes in a wide range of complex commercial litigation before state and federal courts, including real estate disputes, construction litigation, premises liability, product liability and class action defense. He has a particular focus in the area of real estate litigation, representing REITs, developers, commercial property owners and management companies in landlord/tenant, contract and construction disputes.
For the past 18-24 months, Jonathan has played a leading role in the firm’s representation of Munilla Construction Management, LLC (MCM), the general contractor of Florida International University’s pedestrian bridge that tragically collapsed on March 15, 2018. The results of the National Traffic & Safety Board’s two-year investigation determined that the client did not hold the majority of responsibility. In another career highlight, Mr. Weiss played a key role in achieving a complete defense verdict on behalf of perfume manufacturer and distributor, Parlux Fragrances, ending an eight-year litigation battle against former business consultant Lucien Lallouz and Omniscent Corp.
Currently, Mr. Weiss is leading a firm team in a significant federal lawsuit in connection with a supply agreement for an aluminum distributor; is a lead partner in a federal trademark infringement lawsuit for an international jeweler; and is representing a Middle East state bank in a federal lawsuit based upon the Anti-Terrorism Act.
This rising star’s recognition is part of DBR’s Professional Excellence Awards series, where winners honored at an event set for October 7, 2020, at the Rusty Pelican in Miami.
