Squire Patton Boggs is pleased to announce the further expansion of its Financial Services Practice in London with the addition of banking partner Ian Yeo. Mr. Yeo is joining the firm from Herbert Smith Freehills, where he was a partner for 13 years. His appointment follows that of banking partner James Collis, from Ashurst, who is set to join the firm in October.
Jane Haxby, European Managing Partner, said: “The continued development of our Financial Services and Corporate teams in London is a key strategic goal for the firm. Ian is a highly experienced banking partner, with a successful practice in acquisition and leveraged finance, particularly focused on emerging market and cross-border acquisition finance. We are delighted to welcome Ian, who joins us at a time of investment in London, with our move to new offices in Premier Place early next year. With Ian’s appointment, closely following that of James Collis, we have ambitious plans, not only to create a market-leading, cross-border finance team in London, but also to add depth and breadth to our global practice.”
Paula Laird, co-head of Banking and Debt Finance, added: “Ian has an impressive track record in emerging markets and having also practised in Frankfurt, Singapore and Moscow, he brings genuinely global banking experience. His wide client base and, notably, his relationships in the alternative capital space will help increase our profile in this field.”
Mr. Yeo said: “I am excited to join Squire Patton Boggs. Its strong Financial Services Practice and global footprint make it an excellent fit for my practice and clients. I am very much looking forward to playing a part in the firm’s continued development in London and around the world.”
Mr. Yeo trained and qualified at Clifford Chance. He joined Herbert Smith Freehills as a partner in 2006. He was recognised as a Leading Individual for Banking and Finance in London in the Chambers UK guide and ranked in The Legal 500 as a Tier 1 Leading Individual in Emerging Markets.
