Global law firm Squire, Sanders & Dempsey L.L.P. has named partners Joseph C. Weinstein and Aneca E. Lasley to firmwide leadership roles. Weinstein is chair of the Legal Personnel Committee (LPC), and Lasley is the firm’s hiring chair. They succeed Timothy J. Sheeran, who led the LPC and served as firmwide hiring chair for nearly 20 years.
Firm Chair James J. Maiwurm said Weinstein and Lasley move into their new roles at a pivotal time. The global legal industry is rapidly changing to meet market demand. Like other industry leaders, Squire Sanders is evaluating new ways of doing business and best practices for effective client service.

That makes attracting, developing and retaining innovative legal talent one of our top priorities,” Maiwurm said. “Joe and Aneca are enthusiastic leaders, and we are very pleased they have agreed to serve in these very important roles.”
Weinstein, a longtime LPC member, oversees the firm’s associate development program, evaluation and compensation programs.. As hiring chair, Lasley works closely with the LPC on firmwide strategic growth. Both Lasley and Weinstein are commercial litigators. .
Weinstein leads the firm’s shareholder and securities litigation practice team and is recognized in The Best Lawyers in America for commercial litigation and in The Legal 500 US for his expertise in product liability and mass tort defense – automotive/transport. He has also been honored as an Ohio Super Lawyer by Law & Politics magazine each year since the magazine’s inception.
Lasley appears in the 2009 and 2010 edition of Ohio Super Lawyers – Rising Stars and is a past president of Women Lawyers of Franklin County.
