In the morning of 19 December 2018, the EU co-legislators Council
and European Parliament (EP) agreed on the text of the so-called
Single-use Plastics Directive (Directive) after a negotiating session
that had lasted for more than 12 hours. The Directive includes
measures that the EU Member States will, in general, have to take
by 20211 regarding specifically identified categories of single-use
plastic (SUP) products (and fishing gear containing plastic).
