Michelle Saney is an associate in the Restructuring & Insolvency Practice Group based in the New York office. She focuses her practice on representing companies in all aspects of corporate restructurings and liquidations, including in Chapter 11 cases and cross-border insolvencies throughout the country. Michelle also represents companies in complex bankruptcy litigation through various levels of bankruptcy appeals. Her restructuring matters encompass a wide variety of industries, including insurance and reinsurance, finance, steel, healthcare and pharmaceutical.

Michelle also regularly works with the firm’s insurance disputes and counseling practice to represent insurance and reinsurance companies in complex high-value first-party and third-party insurance coverage, contingent liability and bad faith litigation in state and federal courts.

Prior to joining the firm, Michelle clerked for the Honorable James L. Garrity Jr. in the US Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York, and for the Honorable Karen K. Specie in the US Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Florida. During law school, she served as an extern in the Office of the US Trustee and for the Honorable Catherine J. Furay in the US Bankruptcy Court for the Western District of Wisconsin. Michelle brings a wealth of knowledge of the US bankruptcy courts to the firm. As a clerk, she worked exclusively on complex and mega-cases in the aviation, mortgage servicing, energy, agriculture and healthcare industries.

Michelle is a member of the American Bankruptcy Institute and the Turnaround Management Association.
