Global law firm Squire Patton Boggs has opened for business in The Republic of Kazakhstan’s capital city of Astana.
The firm celebrated the opening of its 46th international office with a launch party at The Ritz-Carlton in downtown Astana. The event was attended by dozens of senior executives from Kazakh and international businesses, government officials, as well as partners and leaders from Squire Patton Boggs’ global offices.
“Kazakhstan is on an impressive upward trajectory. The rapid development of infrastructure, ongoing legal reforms, and the implementation of robust economic development strategies have transformed the nation into a regional powerhouse in central Asia,” commented Squire Patton Boggs Chair and Global CEO Mark Ruehlmann. “This growth has brought new opportunities, but it has also increased the complexity of the legal landscape.
Ruehlmann continued, “Our team in Kazakhstan brings decades of experience representing government entities, domestic and international businesses on corporate issues and complex international disputes. Working together with our global network of offices, we are dedicated to advancing the objectives of our clients in a rapidly evolving market.”
The firm’s Astana office will provide clients with a range of services spanning international arbitration, cross border disputes and investigations, corporate and commercial law issues. The local team includes recently hired partners Kopzhan Musrepov, Leila Shayakhmetova, and Nicoleta Timofti.
