Global law firm Squire Patton Boggs jumped 22 spots to a #8 ranking in the 2023 American Lawyer Diversity Scorecard, the firm’s highest ever placement.
Amlaw’s Diversity Scorecard is a metrics-based ranking where firms receive an overall score based on the following criteria: the percentage of racial and ethnic diversity across lawyer head count; the percentage of diverse equity partners; the percentage of diverse professionals across executive committees, office and practice leadership; and the percentage of diverse partner promotions, hires and departures.
In an effort to evolve its long-standing DEI initiatives, Squire Patton Boggs launched its “Office of DEI” in 2021, led by former Global Managing Partner Fred Nance, and appointed Kathy Bowman-Williams as the firm’s Global Director of DEI.
“Our diversity makes us a stronger, better law firm,” Mr. Nance commented. “We created a comprehensive DEI structure and put it at the center of our firm’s senior leadership discussions which has institutionalized our efforts across the global firm. While we recognize more work lies ahead, it is gratifying to see we are making meaningful progress and remain as committed as ever to being a leader in this arena.”
