Squire Patton Boggs has received a 2022 Law Firm Diversity Award from United Parcel Service (“UPS”). Presented by the UPS Legal Diversity Committee and UPS Legal leadership, the award recognizes law firms for commitment to increasing diversity within the legal profession, and for meeting UPS’s outside counsel diversity goals.
“At UPS we view our law firms as an extension of us and in that respect it is important that the firms we choose to partner with walk and talk the same values that we think are important,” said Norman M. Brothers Jr., Chief Legal and Compliance Officer, United Parcel Service. “Squire Patton Boggs has exemplified a steadfast commitment to maintaining a strong culture of diversity, equity and inclusion, which has led to material results. We commend everyone at the firm for its leadership in this important area.”
“We are incredibly proud to receive this recognition from our valued client UPS and remain inspired by the example they set for the legal industry,” said Atlanta partner David Long-Daniels, who serves as a relationship attorney for UPS. “Increasing diversity within our firm and across the profession is a priority that starts at the very top for us and is embraced as part of our culture and professional responsibility.”
Long-Daniels continued, “We are leading the way here in Atlanta with over 70 percent of our local timekeepers consisting of individuals from traditionally underrepresented demographics and on a firm-wide level nearly 40 percent of our current leadership are diverse. This is an important differentiator for us in the market, but more importantly shows that progress can be made in an area that remains a challenge for the industry.”
The UPS Law Firm Diversity Award recognizes firms for meeting the company’s outside counsel diversity objectives, which include assuring that minority and female attorneys account for certain percentages of time billed on UPS matters.
