Squire Patton Boggs West Palm Beach partner Patricia Lowry has been appointed Florida State Chair of the American College of Trial Lawyers.

Founded in 1950, the College “recognizes and honors those trial lawyers in the United States and Canada who are the very best.” Its mission is to maintain and improve the standards of trial practice, the administration of justice, and the ethics of the profession.

The work of the College is conducted principally through its committees, which handle a broad range of activities and issues, from participation in the creation of federal rules or commenting on issues of professionalism to carrying out programs at the state, province or local level. State Committees, specifically, act as the face of the College and liaise with judges, lawyers, court administrators, law schools, the practicing bar and the general public in their states. State committees participate in educational activities, such as teaching trial skills to public interest lawyers and teaching the College’s Codes of Conduct to judges, lawyers and law students. Additionally, they participate in the trial and appellate moot court competitions co-sponsored by the College in the United States.

As head of the Squire Patton Boggs Global Products Liability Practice, Ms. Lowry focuses her practice predominantly on products liability, as well as pharmaceutical whistleblower actions, with expertise defending pharmaceutical and medical device companies in bench and jury trials and multidistrict litigation in Florida and nationally. She has more than 25 years’ experience defending cases involving prescription medications, over-the-counter products and a variety of novel medical devices. Ms. Lowry also defends consumer clients in fraud and marketing product claims, including putative class actions, and is experienced in employment litigation.

Ms. Lowry is also serving her third term as one of only two lawyer members of the Supreme Court of Florida’s Judicial Ethics Advisory Committee. She is also one of the few lawyers who annually teaches The Florida Bar’s Civil Trial Board Certification Review Course, and has been named by Chambers USA, LawDragon 500, Benchmark: Litigation, Daily Business Review, and Florida Super Lawyers as a leading lawyer in commercial litigation and products liability – a few testaments to the high regard in which she is held by her peers in Florida and nationally. Ms. Lowry is rated AV Preeminent by Martindale-Hubbell, the highest possible rating of ethical standards and legal work, for more than 20 years.

In addition to Ms. Lowry, Squire Patton Boggs partners Craig Woods, Damond R. Mace, John M. Nonna, and Robin G. Weaver are Fellows of the College.
