Squire Patton Boggs has advised Twinkl, a global leader in education resources, on a minority investment in the business by Vitruvian Partners.

The team advising Twinkl and founders Jonathan and Susie Seaton was led by Corporate partner James Fitzgibbon, and included Corporate partner Matthew Canipa and Tax Strategy and Benefits partner Patrick Ford, supported by a team from the firm’s Manchester, Leeds, New York and Sydney offices.

With a mission to help those who teach, Twinkl has grown from a back bedroom industry into a leading global educational provider in little over a decade. Now supporting educators in over 200 countries, Twinkl has a vast library of one million educational resources, offering an extensive range of educational content including a DfE-validated Phonics programme and accompanying Rhino Readers reading scheme. Already a household name in UK classrooms, Twinkl looks to deepen its presence in key international markets, providing its teacher-created content in more schools across the world.

Following Vitruvian’s investment, Jonathan and Susie Seaton will remain majority shareholders in the business and will continue to lead Twinkl in its next phase of growth.

“Everything we do at Twinkl is to help those who teach and this is as true today as it was on day one,” commented founder Susie Seaton. “From humble beginnings, we’re now a global leader in educational resources. I couldn’t be more proud of our team, their work and our shared commitment to serving our customers every single day.”

Jonathan Seaton, founder and CEO, said: “Vitruvian bring with them a wealth of experience and expertise in helping fast-growing companies like Twinkl to achieve future success. We’re really excited about the support an external partner like this can bring as we focus on how we continue to help those who teach around the world.”

Commenting on the support Twinkl received from Squire Patton Boggs, Mr. Seaton added: “You always look to your external advisors to provide advice that is both legally correct, but as importantly, commercially sound. Without question, the team at Squire Patton Boggs provided this to us - guiding us through a complex, but educational process and taking the time to really understand the business, and how things work in practice. We are grateful for their time, counsel and support.”

James Fitzgibbon said: “Jon and Susie have achieved so much in a short space of time, and we are delighted to support them and the wider management team on a transaction that will enable the business to continue to grow and benefit educators around the world.”
