Real Estate partner and national head of the Squire Patton Boggs retail real estate practice Prew Lumley has been recognised in The Lawyer’s Hot 100 2023. The list, which published today, celebrates standout individuals in the UK over the past year, recognising a diverse list of legal professionals seen to be doing the most important work in the country.
In recognising Ms. Lumley’s achievements, The Lawyer notes: “Lumley is proof to all women that you can have it all… She made partner at 29 years old, stepped down to do a job share with Karen French for two years in order to start a family, before the pair was later made-up as Squires’ first job share partner. Lumley proceeded to become an equity partner in 2018, while still working part-time.”
European managing partner Jonathan Jones said: “Since she joined the firm as a trainee, Prew was destined to achieve great things. Her dynamism and drive has seen her lead the charge on many fronts at the firm, notably as one of our first job-sharing partners alongside Karen French; a working arrangement that was probably one the first of its kind within the legal industry. Prew is a trailblazer, and we are very proud of all that she has achieved.”
Ms. Lumley has more than 25 years’ experience as a commercial property lawyer, advising on complex development and strategic land work and property portfolio management. She has led the UK retail real estate team for over 10 years, acting for well-known high street retailers and restaurants. Outside the firm, Ms. Lumley was the first chair of the LeedsBID, a not-for-profit organisation set up to improve Leeds city centre, an elected post she held from 2015 for over five years. She was also non-executive director of the Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust from 2012 for 3 years.
