Leading real estate publication Commercial Property Executive has recognized Squire Patton Boggs as one of the top 15 US real estate law firms in their annual rankings. The publication uses a weighted formula based on a variety of factors, including the number of dedicated lawyers to the sector worldwide, the growth of the practice, and the size and nature of its top deals.
With genuine global commercial real estate capabilities, the 235-member team provides a full range of real estate legal services, from acquisition, planning, financing, construction, leasing through to the disposal of real estate assets. The Real Estate Practice represents clients in all industry sectors: office, retail, industrial, multifamily residential, senior housing, healthcare and hospitality.
Squire Patton Boggs’ Real Estate Practice has been involved in some of the most complex transactions in 2017. The team provided real estate advice on the US$1.38 billion deal for Delta Terminals C & D in connection with the LaGuardia Airport Redevelopment Project. The year prior, the same team played a major role representing the conduit bond issuer in the landmark US$2.4 billion P3 LaGuardia Airport Terminal B Redevelopment Project. Other notable transactions in 2017 included acting for Amaris Hospitality (part of the US private equity group Lone Star) in relation to the UK property aspects of the £800 million (US$1.07 billion) sale of the Jurys Inn chain of hotels and represented a hospitality-focused REIT in providing counsel on its portfolio valued in excess of US$1 billion.
Over the course of the last year, the firm has made a number of strategic hires, including the addition of Steven Silver, former deputy group counsel at the Co-op Group. Stanton Johnson joined as partner in Phoenix, Arizona in January 2018.
