Squire Patton Boggs has won two awards for employment law resource Global Edge, including Legal Technology Firm of the Year at the Legal Business Awards and Best Use of Technology at the Middle East Legal Awards. Both award ceremonies were held this week.
Now in its 21st year, the Legal Business Awards, which were held at Grosvenor House in London, recognise outstanding work from across the profession and acknowledge the accomplishments of the finest lawyers currently working in the UK and beyond.
The award for Legal Technology Firm of the Year recognises law firms, in-house teams and chambers that have pushed through innovation and secured competitive advantage for their business.
The judging panel comprised prominent general counsel, including Clare Wardle, General Counsel and Company Secretary, Coca-Cola European Partners; Nigel Paterson, General Counsel and Company Secretary, Dixons Carphone; and Ned Staple, General Counsel and Company Secretary, ZPG.
In their summing up, the judges noted: “Squire Patton Boggs has developed Global Edge, a subscription-based information portal providing up-to-date employment advice and developments covering 32 jurisdictions. Accessible via a mobile app and designed and built entirely by the firm, Global Edge offers 955 reports, 221 On the Horizon updates (mapping forthcoming legislation) and 30 webinars. Among its 83 users are a host of prominent companies.”
The Middle East Legal Awards were jointly hosted last night by Legal Week and the Association of Corporate Counsel (ACC) Middle East Chapter at the Ritz-Carlton in Dubai. The winners were chosen by an independent judging panel chaired by Dean Sheehan, Vice President and General Counsel for Middle East and Africa, PepsiCo.
Labour & Employment Practice Group Leader Caroline Noblet, said: “This is a fantastic achievement; to win at two of the most highly respected awards in the legal calendar is testimony to all of our lawyers across the business who have worked so hard to make Global Edge a success. The fact that these awards were judged by an esteemed group of general counsel, and for them to validate Global Edge in this way, shows what a great product it is for clients – I couldn’t be more proud.”
Global Edge has achieved a string of accolades, including recognition in the FT Innovative Lawyers North America Report, and has been a finalist at Legal Week’s Innovation Awards and The Asian Lawyer Awards.
